The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
TheRipper fails with a takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from Holmes.
TheRipper avoids a punch combination nicely.
Holmes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Holmes misses with a double jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Holmes, as that shot connected.

Holmes gets in close and instigates a clinch.
TheRipper unloads a knee to the mid-section. Holmes lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Holmes looks gassed!

TheRipper breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Holmes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts TheRipper as he jumps to the side.
TheRipper looks to land a combination but Holmes avoids it well.
TheRipper throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
TheRipper closes the distance and clinches up with Holmes, looking for a takedown. TheRipper pushes Holmes against the ropes but Holmes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Holmes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and TheRipper counters with a nice double leg into side control. Holmes won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Holmes is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on TheRipper's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Holmes is looking to improve his position but TheRipper isn't that keen on the idea.
Jack TheRipper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
