Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matt Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Rector (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andre Rector!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter misses with a takedown attempt

and Rector counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Rector is figuring out what he wants to do next.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andre Rector hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Carter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rector really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
It looks like Rector might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Rector. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rector can do anything to dispel that myth.
Carter wants to control from the top but Rector keeps moving.
Carter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rector is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Carter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rector swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Carter is looking to work some ground and pound but Rector has wrist control.

Rector is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carter is aware though and is defending well.

Rector is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rector is in all sorts of trouble here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Rector stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rector wants it to stay on the feet.

Rector closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carter quickly recovers to half guard.
Carter is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Rector looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Carter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rector is working away from the top position though.
Carter is looking for a sweep. Rector is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Rector shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carter's guard.

Rector seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Carter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andre Rector hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Rector fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carter to the ground. Rector is now in Carter's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Andre Rector was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Carter shoots in for a takedown but Rector shows good takedown defense.
Carter throws a push kick but Rector slaps the foot to one side.
Carter throws a series of punches but Rector avoids them all with ease.
Rector is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Horrible takedown by Carter or perhaps it was just good defense by Rector which made him look bad.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rector takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andre Rector comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rector has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
