Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Cairo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andres Machete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Machete's choice of entrance music: Sandstorm - Darude. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cairo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Machete pinned against the cage. Machete gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Machete throws a shot from downtown. Cairo moves away and avoids it.
A big left from Machete misses.
Cairo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Machete throws a looping overhand right but Cairo ducks down to avoid it.
Machete misses with an uppercut.
Cairo shoots in looking for a takedown. Machete tries to sprawl out of it but Cairo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Machete manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Cairo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Machete misses with a hook. Cairo ducked under it nicely.

Cairo chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Machete can pounce on him.

and Cairo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Cairo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Machete can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Machete controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Cairo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Machete!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cairo swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Machete is now in Cairo's guard. A big mistake from Cairo there, giving up the dominant position!
Cairo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Machete is aware though and is defending well.

That was a close round but I would say that John Cairo will probably get the nod.

Machete uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cairo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The strikes coming from Cairo are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
