The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

van Bommel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mitch sprawls well initially but van Bommel persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
van Bommel tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Mitch.
van Bommel not landing any meaningful shots this time.
van Bommel scoring with strikes to the body and head.
van Bommel seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
van Bommel has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mitch is trying to get back to full guard.
Mitch has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. van Bommel is working away from the top position though.

van Bommel wants to free his trapped foot but Mitch is holding on for dear life with his legs.
van Bommel performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Horst van Bommel just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
van Bommel takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
van Bommel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mitch circles away.
van Bommel is breathing heavily.
Mitch lands a head kick. van Bommel smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
van Bommel takes a kick to the side of the head.
Mitch will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mitch lands a left and a right that sends van Bommel crashing to the canvas! Mitch dives into mount looking to finish!

van Bommel is rocked!
van Bommel is looking to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mitch trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

van Bommel tries to hold on but Mitch postures up.
Mitch trying to control but van Bommel is having none of it.
van Bommel is trying to stand up.
Mitch controlling from the full mount.

van Bommel somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maike Mitch dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Mitch counters with a three punch combo that has van Bommel backing up. van Bommel nods at Mitch to acknowledge the strikes.
van Bommel moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Mitch throws a nice looking combination but van Bommel bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
van Bommel on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
van Bommel drops Mitch with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Mitch looks back up at him and smiles so van Bommel waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Mitch is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
van Bommel lands with a big right hook that stumbles Mitch - he's out on his feet here! van Bommel follows up with another monster hook that separates Mitch from consciousness! Mitch falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! van Bommel stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
