The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruiz throws a head kick that half lands.

Sadat throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ruiz was covering up waiting for the punch and Sadat finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ruiz is looking to stand up but Sadat isn't so interested in that idea.

Ruiz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sadat defends well.

Ruiz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sadat's guard.

Ruiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Sadat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sadat pulls Ruiz in close to prevent any damage.

Ruiz wants to get up but he can't break Sadat's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Sadat manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

I really don't envy Ruiz right now.
