PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Renan Bach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josefelipe Felipe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Renan Bach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Josefelipe Felipe!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bach bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Felipe gets back to half guard.
Felipe moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Felipe looking to control.
Felipe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bach. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bach trying to control the position from guard on top but Felipe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Felipe throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Felipe pulls Bach in close to prevent any damage.
Bach wants to control from the top but Felipe keeps moving.

We're going to have a standup here because Renan Bach wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Bach gets tackled into the cage by Felipe. Felipe maintains the clinch.
Felipe keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bach's efforts to push away.
Felipe tries to stall but Bach uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Felipe should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Felipe tries to score a body lock takedown but Bach shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Bach has had enough of the clinch but Felipe keeps him there for the moment.

Felipe is trying to pull guard but Bach turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Bach controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Felipe is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Bach chips away with some ground and pound.
Bach with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bach wants to stand but Felipe is controlling his posture from full guard.

Bach stands up and waves to Felipe to follow him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Felipe throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Bach shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Felipe as he jumps to the side.
Nice takedown defense from Bach. No joy for Felipe on that attempt.
Renan Bach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josefelipe Felipe.
Bach tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Felipe counters with a body kick.
Felipe fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bach keeps the fight on the outside.
Bach throws a right and a left that Felipe avoids nicely.

Bach closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Felipe to the mat! Felipe manages to get full guard.
Felipe is looking to stand up but Bach isn't so interested in that idea.

Bach postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Bach is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bach decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bach will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bach cracks Felipe with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Bach has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bach manages to capitalize on a mistake by Felipe to take his back!

Bach is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Felipe knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Felipe for a finish.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Felipe breaks Bach's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Felipe doesn't manage to clinch there - Bach circles away.
Renan Bach is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bach jumps guard but Felipe stands there with Bach around his waist. Bach gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bach has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Felipe regains guard immediately.

Felipe is refusing to be controlled, as Bach sits in half guard.
Renan Bach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Felipe tries to get to full guard but Bach has control of the leg.
Felipe has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bach is working away from the top position though.
Felipe moves into full guard.
Felipe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bach works over Felipe with some ground and pound from guard.
Bach forces his way into half guard.

Felipe is not content to let Bach control the position.
Felipe controlling the position well.
Bach has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Bach landing punches.

Bach gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Bach fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Felipe to the ground. Bach is now in Felipe's guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bach gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Renan Bach showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bach, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
