Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nogueira Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dzambolat Kokoev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nogueira Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dzambolat Kokoev!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Payne gets caught napping as Kokoev dives in and scores a takedown. Payne manages to retain guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kokoev preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Payne looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kokoev passes into half guard.

Kokoev seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Payne does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kokoev wants to take a breather but Payne is having none of it.

and Kokoev counters with a single leg into guard. Payne didn't expect that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Payne is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Payne really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kokoev thows a huge punch but Payne dodges it nicely.

Kokoev stops Payne from getting back to his feet.
Kokoev wants to take a breather but Payne is having none of it.
Payne is positioning himself well to prevent Kokoev advancing to mount.

Kokoev is working for a submission of some sort.
Payne trying to hold on to Kokoev's head to control him but Kokoev postures up.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Payne tries for a takedown but Kokoev sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kokoev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Payne sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kokoev somewhat.
Payne is looking to chop away at Kokoev's legs.
Payne misses with a takedown attempt - Kokoev sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nogueira Payne is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Payne shoots for a double leg takedown but Kokoev sprawls well. He's pushed Payne's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nogueira Payne. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Payne closes the distance but Kokoev moves to the side

and Kokoev counters with a takedown into side control.

Kokoev thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Payne is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Dzambolat Kokoev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

and Kokoev counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Payne is lucky that one didn't land flush.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Payne enables Kokoev to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Payne manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Well Kokoev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
