Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robson Joaquin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anderson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robson Joaquin!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva darts in and clinches Joaquin up against the cage.

Silva decides to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva has Joaquin pulled in close to control his posture.
Silva has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Silva looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Joaquin puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Silva tries to roll over but Joaquin keeps him under control.
Silva tries to kick Joaquin off but Joaquin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Silva is in trouble now - Joaquin has advanced to mount!

Silva tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Silva reaches up and holds on to Joaquin to control the position.
Silva tries to hold on but Joaquin pushes him away.
Joaquin seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Silva is holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva tries to hold on but Joaquin postures up.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Joaquin on the ground.
Silva is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Joaquin is looking to stand but Joaquin has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Silva might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Joaquin wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely.
Silva is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Silva is desperately trying to improve his position but Joaquin has a good base and remains in mount.
Silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Anderson Silva will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Joaquin wants to clinch but Silva slips to the side

and Silva counters by clinching up.

Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Joaquin, pushing him back against the cage.
Silva is working for takedown but Joaquin is calmly controlling the position for now.
Joaquin prevents the takedown attempt.
Silva really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Joaquin wants to take the fight to the mat but Silva manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Silva gets underhooks to prevent Joaquin's takedown attempt.
Silva is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Silva stalling in the clinch.
Joaquin tries to pull guard but Silva forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Anderson Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robson Joaquin.
Silva gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Joaquin.

Silva is trying to drag Joaquin to the mat but Joaquin just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Silva changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Joaquin fights it off and pushes away nicely.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Silva.

Silva closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Silva is looking for a kimura here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Joaquin's head.

Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Joaquin is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Silva seems to be working for a kimura but Joaquin defends the submission attempt.

Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Joaquin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Anderson Silva overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Silva thows a huge punch but Joaquin dodges it nicely.
Joaquin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Joaquin.

Silva stands and steps away. Joaquin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Silva lands a slapping body shot.
Silva fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Silva dives in and grabs Joaquin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Joaquin pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
Joaquin shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silva is defended easily by Joaquin.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Joaquin is looking to pass Silva's guard but actually Silva recovers to full guard.

Silva has his foot on Joaquin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Joaquin works his way back into a safe position though.

Joaquin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Silva dives on top into guard.
Silva has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Joaquin controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.

Joaquin has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Silva has passed into side control.
Silva takes a little break here. Joaquin wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Silva looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Robson Joaquin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Anderson Silva is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Silva advances nicely into full mount.

Well Silva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
