PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vince Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Bocek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bocek has chosen Kashmir - Led Zeppelin as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Bruce Bocek told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bocek misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Carter moves into the clinch successfully.
Carter connects with a nasty looking knee right to Bocek's face.

Carter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Carter closes the distance and clinches.
Carter misses with a knee strike.
Carter throws a knee to the head but misses.

Carter is trying to break the clinch but Bocek is controlling him.

Vince Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Bocek.

Bocek is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Carter pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Carter using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Bocek has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Bocek is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Carter gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Bocek has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Carter is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Carter breaks from the clinch.
Carter scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Carter lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carter.

Carter looks to land a left hand but Bocek moved out of range nicely.
Vince Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carter throws a head kick that misses.
Bocek shoots in but Carter avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Bocek shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Carter manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bocek works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carter is in trouble now - Bocek has advanced to mount!

Bocek working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Carter turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Bocek off and cradles Carter's limp body as Bocek celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Bruce Bocek!
