The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smirnov doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Davy counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Smirnov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Davy throws out a powerful jab.
Davy stuns Smirnov with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Davy blocks a head kick by Smirnov.
Davy pivots, looking for a leg kick but Smirnov is out of range and Davy settles back down.

Davy tries to close the distance and clinch but Smirnov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Davy looks to score with a jab to the body but Smirnov is just out of range.

Smirnov thows a left - swing and a miss!
Davy is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Smirnov takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Smirnov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Davy sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Davy connects with a nasty looking knee right to Smirnov's face.

It looks like Ruslan Smirnov has been cut.
Smirnov is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Smirnov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Davy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smirnov.
Davy avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smirnov throws a low kick but it's checked well by Davy.
A lazy left from Davy finds it's target.
Davy fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Smirnov just misses with a punch to the body.
Davy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smirnov circles away quickly and effectively.
Wavy Davy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smirnov thuds his right hand into Davy's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Davy thows a body shot but no joy.
Smirnov shoots in for a takedown but Davy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wavy Davy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ruslan Smirnov.

Davy dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Smirnov throws a hook to the side of Davy's head but Davy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Smirnov swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Davy lands a two punch combo.

Davy clinches up with Smirnov and pushes him back against the cage.
Davy prevents a takedown attempt there.
Smirnov is trying to force a seperation but Davy has the dominant position.
Davy pushes Smirnov back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Smirnov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smirnov misses the jab.
Davy throws a lazy right hand but Smirnov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Smirnov looks to throw the jab but Davy is out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Davy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Smirnov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Davy pinned against the cage. Davy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Davy throws out a leg kick but Smirnov moves out of range and Davy only half commits.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Davy changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Davy gets caught flat footed, as Smirnov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Davy is on top in guard.
Davy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smirnov on the ground.

Davy is posturing up here but Smirnov has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Davy tries to roll out but it's too tight and Davy has to tap! Slick submission there by Smirnov!
