The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walpole tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dwight paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Dwight manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Walpole on his heels. He'll look to pass Walpole's guard now, I'm sure.

Walpole got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dwight has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Walpole has managed to get both his arms back between Dwight's legs - danger averted.

Dwight shoots in for a double leg but Walpole sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Walpole ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dwight moves away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Walpole enables Dwight to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Walpole manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Dwight is pushing down on Walpole's leg trying to pass to half guard. Walpole is fighting to maintain full guard but Dwight has managed to sneak the leg through.
Dwight takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Dwight is working for a kimura here but Walpole manages to reverse the position and he's now in Dwight's guard.
