The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bigelow throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Carter was covering up waiting for the punch and Bigelow finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Bigelow tries to free his leg and advance position but Carter is retaining full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Al Bigelow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bigelow shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carter as he jumps to the side.
Carter shoots in but Bigelow avoids the takedown attempt easily.

The crowd cheers as Carter lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bigelow doesn't seem phased though.

Carter throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bigelow on the side of the head.

Bigelow is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Carter is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Carter stuns Bigelow with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Bigelow fails to land the takedown.
Carter fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bigelow looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brandon Carter.
