Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Duane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Leanord (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leanord goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Leanord is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Duane counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Duane 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Duane has control of Leanord's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Leanord regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Duane throws a sloppy head kick and Leanord moves out of range easily.

Duane shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Leanord manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Duane is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Leanord to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Leanord shrugs it off.

Duane swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Leanord is now in Duane 's guard. A big mistake from Duane there, giving up the dominant position!
Duane pulls Leanord in close to his closed guard and prevents Leanord from doing any damage or advancing position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leanord postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Duane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Leanord swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Leanord has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Leanord is breathing heavily.

Leanord is having to fend off submission attempts from Duane , who is looking to sink in the choke. Duane doesn't have the hooks in though and Leanord manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Duane is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Leanord is aware though and is defending well.
Duane wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Duane lands a nice short elbow.

Duane closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Leanord did well to prevent Duane getting side control.
Leanord takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

We're going to have a standup here because Mark Duane wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Duane manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Leanord on his heels. He'll look to pass Leanord's guard now, I'm sure.

Duane has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
