Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jin Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Martin Metaxa!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim shoots for a double leg takedown but Metaxa sprawls well. He's pushed Kim's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kim tries for a takedown but Metaxa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kim on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Metaxa tries to work over Kim's front leg with a kick but Kim checks it.

Kim shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Metaxa defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jin Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That kick from Metaxa tenderised Kim's leg. Kim is trying to keep his angry face on.

Metaxa moves into range and clinches up with Kim.
Kim jumps guard but Metaxa turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kim has Metaxa pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Metaxa manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Metaxa creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Metaxa creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Kim's defenses.

Kim tries to score a power double leg takedown but Metaxa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kim somewhat.
Martin Metaxa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Metaxa scores with a jab to the head.
Kim blocks the body kick.
Kim stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Metaxa.
Kim gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Kim has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Metaxa regains guard immediately.

Metaxa throws a series of punches but Kim avoids them all with ease.

Kim misses with a head shot. Metaxa uses the momentum to regain guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Metaxa pulls Kim in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kim works over Metaxa with some ground and pound from guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kim slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Metaxa ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kim moves away.

and Kim counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Jin Kim's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Kim avoids the elbow strike from Metaxa, against the cage.

Metaxa throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Kim can't break the clinch.
Metaxa misses with a short punch on the inside.
Metaxa lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Metaxa throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Metaxa lands an elbow inside that Kim shrugs off.
Metaxa is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Kim gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Metaxa wants to improve his position but Kim is controlling well.
Jin Kim overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kim is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Metaxa defends it well.
Kim is looking to stall here but Metaxa recovers full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Martin Metaxa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Kim's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kim tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Metaxa swivels and escapes.
That kick from Metaxa tenderised Kim's leg. Kim is trying to keep his angry face on.
Metaxa lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Kim shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Metaxa's guard.
Metaxa wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Metaxa controls Kim momentarily but Kim frees himself.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kim accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kim postures up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Martin Metaxa wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kim cracks Metaxa with a right hand to the side of the head.
Metaxa wants to clinch.

Metaxa moves into the clinch successfully.
Kim wants to take the fight to the mat but Metaxa manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Kim is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Metaxa gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jin Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Metaxa lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Kim breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Metaxa with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Metaxa moves into the clinch.

Kim has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Metaxa regains guard immediately.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kim won't allow Metaxa to sweep him here.
Metaxa looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Martin Metaxa has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Metaxa slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Kim connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Metaxa momentarily.

and Kim counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kim.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Metaxa wants to stand up but Kim is controlling him.
Kim looking to sit in guard and control but Metaxa gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Metaxa stays in close to Kim's body and controls the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jin Kim.
I think Metaxa has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
