Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alexandre Carlitos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cong Mao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mao is defended easily by Carlitos .
Carlitos takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Mao drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Mao really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carlitos . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mao content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Mao connects with a couple of short punches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mao wants to stand but Carlitos has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Mao wants to pass the guard but Carlitos is keeping the position.

Carlitos has his foot on Mao's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mao works his way back into a safe position though.

Mao paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Carlitos - great work!
