Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugo Veron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
23 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Mifsud!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mifsud throws a body kick that misses.
Mifsud comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Veron throws a wild body kick that Mifsud sees coming a mile off.
Mifsud smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Mifsud walks into a straight right hand from Veron.
Veron goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Mifsud misses the target.
Mifsud misses with a body kick.
Veron misses with a straight left.
Mifsud blocks a head kick by Veron.
A chopping leg kick lands by Veron.
Mifsud takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Mifsud throws a nice inside leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mifsud swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Veron looks to score with a jab to the body but Mifsud is just out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mifsud throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Veron sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mifsud throws a body kick that misses.
Mifsud throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Veron on the side of the head.
Mifsud throws a jab but it's blocked by Veron.
A looping hook to the body misses from Veron. Mifsud does a little dance to reset his feet.
A head kick misses from Mifsud.
Mifsud has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mifsud there as he acknowledges the shot.
Mifsud needs to keep his hands up - Veron had a free shot at his head there.
Veron buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Veron throws a low kick but it's checked well by Mifsud.
Veron feints and then cracks Mifsud's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mifsud down.
Nice jab there from Veron.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Veron uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mifsud.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mifsud misses with a wild body shot.
Veron misses with the body kick
and Mifsud counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Veron is rocked!
Veron glances at the clock... BAM! Mifsud nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Veron crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Veron is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Mifsud!
