Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jongsanan Fairtex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Rey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Jongsanan Fairtex had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jongsanan Fairtex!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carlos Rey!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rey takes a swing at Fairtex's ribcage but misses.
Fairtex looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Carlos Rey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fairtex manages to avoid it.
Fairtex keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Fairtex throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fairtex throws a shot to the body.
Fairtex throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Fairtex lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rey backs up against the cage.


It looks like Carlos Rey has been cut.
Fairtex swings for the body but Rey moves out of range.
Rey moves forwards but Fairtex connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Fairtex pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rey fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Fairtex on the side of the head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rey. Fairtex does a little dance to reset his feet.

Fairtex fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rey manages to avoid it.
Rey throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fairtex sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Rey looks to land a left hand but Fairtex moved out of range nicely.
Rey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Fairtex throws a looping overhand right but Rey ducks down to avoid it.
Rey has a takedown stuffed.
Jongsanan Fairtex has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Rey.
Fairtex lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Fairtex.

Rey shoots in and bounces Fairtex off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Rey is pushing down on Fairtex's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fairtex is fighting to maintain full guard but Rey has managed to sneak the leg through.

Rey throws an elbow that misses. Fairtex uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rey's guard. Nice move by Fairtex!
Fairtex wants to get up but he can't break Rey's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Fairtex seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rey is controlling Fairtex's posture.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rey looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fairtex is fending him off so far but Rey persists. Nope, Fairtex circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice defenses there by Rey.
Rey swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Rey takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fairtex doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Fairtex counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jongsanan Fairtex will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Fairtex takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Rey looks to land a left hand but Fairtex moved out of range nicely.

Fairtex wants to control but Rey postures up.
Rey wants to control but Fairtex is keeping him busy.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rey connects with a nice short shot to Fairtex's temple.

Rey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rey shoots for a double leg takedown but Fairtex sprawls well. He's pushed Rey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Fairtex throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Rey shoots in looking for a takedown. Fairtex tries to sprawl out of it but Rey keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fairtex manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Fairtex digs a good body shot into Rey's ribs.
Jongsanan Fairtex is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rey throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fairtex stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Fairtex takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Nice uppercut lands for Rey. That snapped Fairtex's head back.
Fairtex fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fairtex stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jongsanan Fairtex has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Rey.

Rey is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fairtex sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Rey works Fairtex's body with a nice hook.
Rey lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rey swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A nice combination there by Fairtex.

Oh Fairtex is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rey lands a huge takedown. Fairtex is out but the ref is slow to react and Rey lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Fairtex lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Rey!
An out of breath Carlos Rey thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
