PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Jackson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Miller!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Miller sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jackson has Miller up against the cage in a clinch.
Miller looking to slow down the pace here.
Jackson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Jackson pulls guard successfully.
Miller trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Miller wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position.
Miller wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

Miller pushing down on Jackson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Miller is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jason Miller wasn't active enough on the ground.

Jackson moves into range and clinches up with Miller.

Jackson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Miller doesn't manage to clinch there - Jackson circles away.

Jackson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Miller.
Miller misses with a shot to the body
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Miller shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jackson sprawls well. Jackson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Miller gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jackson.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Miller gets cracked there but stands up to it.

and Jackson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Jackson checks a leg kick.
Jackson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Miller misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Horrible takedown by Miller or perhaps it was just good defense by Jackson which made him look bad.

Jackson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Miller is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Miller goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jackson prevents it.
The referee calls for Jackson to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jackson jumps guard.
Miller wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position.
Miller is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Jason Miller has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Miller takes a head kick and keeps coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ben Jackson dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jackson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Miller backwards.

Ben Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Miller.
Jackson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Miller pulls him back up using the underhooks.
The referee calls for Jackson to work.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.
Jackson wants to clinch.
No luck for Jackson with that takedown attempt.

and Jackson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Miller!
Miller is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Jackson looking to control but Miller is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Miller bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Miller wants to stand but Jackson is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ben Jackson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Jackson feints a jab promting Miller to slip. Jackson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Miller slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Miller doesn't manage to clinch there - Jackson circles away.

Jackson has Miller pressed against the cage.
Miller tries to break the clinch but Jackson is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson gets underhooks to prevent Miller's takedown attempt.
Jackson has Miller pressed against the cage.
Miller is trying desperately to land a takedown but Jackson is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Miller.
Miller tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Miller gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jackson.

Miller is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jackson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Miller to the mat. Miller regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Miller seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Miller can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jackson controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Miller has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jackson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Miller.
You can see the frustration on Miller's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Miller tries to get back to half guard but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson controls the position from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Miller is looking to escape.

Miller has given up his back here.

Jackson is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Miller won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Jackson off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ben Jackson!

As Ben Jackson got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: See what happens!? you bring your best and I swat them down! That's how we do, Dickinson, drop down from 205, meet me at 185, lets get it on! 10 x 10 minute rounds if you want, I come to fight, I will finish you!!'.
