PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Snow Crash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Wait and Bleed by Slipknot. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Snow Crash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Griffin misses the body punch
and Crash counters with a nice body kick.
Griffin throws a lazy head kick

and Crash counters by moving into the clinch.
Crash stalls.

Crash has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Griffin uses from the top position.
Griffin wants to control from the top but Crash keeps moving.
Crash looking to hit a scissor sweep but Griffin is one step ahead there.
Griffin tries to stand but Crash is controlling from the bottom.

Crash is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Griffin defends well.

Griffin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Griffin wants to control the pace but Crash is squirming around nicely.

Crash has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Griffin is working away from the top position though.

Crash regains full guard. Nicely done.
Crash thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Crash has a closed guard, preventing Griffin from standing up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Crash is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Griffin is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Crash shoots in for a double leg but Griffin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Griffin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Crash cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Shane Griffin has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Crash moves out of range as Griffin strikes.
Griffin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Crash makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Crash looks to land a combination but Griffin avoids it well.
Griffin scores with a shot to the body.
Shane Griffin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Griffin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Crash.

Griffin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Crash fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Griffin manages to avoid it.

A left lands for Griffin.
Crash ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Griffin is breathing heavily.
Crash misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The crowd cheers as Griffin lands an impressive looking overhand right. Crash doesn't seem phased though.
Crash doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Griffin stuffs the takedown attempt from Crash. Crash gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Snow Crash. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Crash looks to land a body kick but Griffin moved away.

Griffin cracks a nice hook into Crash's ribs.
Shane Griffin seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Crash closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Griffin did well to prevent Crash getting side control.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Crash is stalling here. Griffin is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Crash seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Griffin has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Shane Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Griffin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Crash stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Griffin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Crash.

Crash is looking to wear down Griffin with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
The fighters circling - Griffin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Crash shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Crash looks to throw the jab but Griffin is out of range.

Griffin loads up on a big right hand but Crash slips the punch.
Crash keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Crash lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Griffin lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Crash backs up against the cage.
Griffin misses with a straight right.
Crash uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Griffin.
Crash takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Griffin throws a hook but Crash blocks it.
Griffin tries to bum rush Crash with a series of wild strikes but Crash uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Griffin throws a body punch but Crash moves out of range.
Crash uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Griffin.
Crash lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Griffin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Crash shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Griffin as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Snow Crash. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Crash works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Shane Griffin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
No joy there for Crash, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Griffin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

I think Crash has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
