The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Shaw pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Shaw stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith fails with the takedown.
Smith needs to keep his hands up - Shaw had a free shot at his head there.
John Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Shaw with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Shaw throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shaw tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Shaw misses with a straight right.
Shaw cracks Smith with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Shaw has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Smith to stand back up!

Smith is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shaw throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Oh Smith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fraklin Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shaw drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Smith's head, knocking him out cold! Shaw is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
