The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vilas Boas fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Vader jumps guard but Vilas Boas turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Vader is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vilas Boas stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Vilas Boas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vilas Boas wants it to stay on the feet.
Vader takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Vader with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Vilas Boas to score with a decent uppercut.

Vader throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vilas Boas 's waist but Vilas Boas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vader off to one side.

A punch lands to the side of Vader 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Vader tries to keep at a distance but Vilas Boas has taken the fight into the clinch.
Vilas Boas manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Vilas Boas lands a hook that snaps the head of Vader backwards.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Vader jumps guard but Vilas Boas turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Vilas Boas tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Vader ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Vader no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Vader has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Vilas Boas is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Vader.

Vilas Boas postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Vader to stand up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
