PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Litran Kossu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron Damon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kossu comes to the cage accompanied by Holy Diver - Dio. Damon has chosen Dies Irae as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ron Damon!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kossu takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Damon misses with a double jab.
Damon misses with a few strikes there.

Kossu shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Damon napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kossu throws an elbow but Damon slips to the side and avoids it well.
Kossu in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Kossu tries to advance to mount but can't.
Kossu lands a decent elbow from side control.
Damon dodges the ground and pound from Kossu.
Damon regains half guard there - taking advantage of Kossu's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Kossu wants to take a breather but Damon is having none of it.
Kossu is stalling here. Damon is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kossu seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Damon has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kossu is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Damon's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Kossu is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Damon scores with a couple of nice shots.

Kossu wants to control but Damon is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Damon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kossu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kossu lands with a kick to the ribs.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Damon.
Kossu slips under a jab.
Kossu cracks a nice hook into Damon's ribs.
Kossu bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Damon's head backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Damon swings for the body but Kossu moves out of range.
Kossu is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Damon tries to work over Kossu's front leg with a kick but Kossu checks it.
Kossu throws a hook but Damon avoids it easily.
Kossu misses with a looping left.
Damon jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Kossu moves in looking to clinch but Damon pushes him off.
A nice inside leg kick there by Damon. That's going to slow Kossu down.

Damon misses with a hook.
Kossu lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Kossu tests Damon's chin there with a solid looking shot.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice uppercut lands for Kossu. That snapped Damon's head back.

Damon throws a looping overhand right but Kossu ducks down to avoid it.

Damon lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Damon throws a leg kick but Kossu sees it coming and moves out of range.

Kossu on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Damon. Damon obviously looking to wear him down.

Damon connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kossu's hands.

Damon has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kossu.
Kossu misses the shot to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters circling - Damon throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Damon takes a swing at Kossu's ribcage but misses.
Kossu staying out of range there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Litran Kossu will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Kossu scores with the left hand. Damon knows he should have avoided that one.
Damon throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kossu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kossu explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Ron Damon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Some wild striking there from Damon.
Damon moves away from the strike by Kossu.
Kossu moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Damon feints a jab promting Kossu to slip. Damon then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kossu slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Kossu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Damon paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kossu takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Damon swings for the body but Kossu moves out of range.

Damon displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kossu throws out the jab.

Kossu pushes Damon up against the cage in a clinch.
Damon tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Kossu misses with a punch to the body.
Kossu misses with an elbow strike.
Damon is trying to break the clinch but Kossu has him pressed against the cage.
Damon's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Damon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kossu staying out of range there.
Damon swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Damon walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kossu checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kossu avoids a punch combination nicely.
Damon jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kossu shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Damon slips a straight right by Kossu.

A looping hook to the body misses from Damon. Kossu does a little dance to reset his feet.

Damon does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Kossu's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Damon connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kossu scrambles back to his feet.

Damon is breathing heavily.
Kossu feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Damons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Damon lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Damon connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Damon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kossu circles away quickly and effectively.

Damon pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kossu is out of range and Damon settles back down.
Kossu blocks a jab.
Kossu fails with the takedown.

Damon gets tackled into the cage by Kossu. Kossu maintains the clinch.
Damon can't break the clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Kossu.
Damon is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Kossu lands a damaging elbow.
Kossu misses with a knee to the head.
Kossu tries a body shot but Damon blocks it.
Kossu tries to work over Damon's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Kossu lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

That was a close second round but I would say that Litran Kossu will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ron Damon seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Damon throws a hook but Kossu avoids it easily.

The fighters circle momentarily. Damon darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

That kick from Damon tenderised Kossu's leg. Kossu is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kossu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Damon manages to avoid it.

Kossu shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
