Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Anderson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Anderson manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anderson wants to stand up but King is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

King drops back looking for a leg! Anderson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Anderson manages to kick King off! King jumps back into Anderson's guard.

Anderson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. King is aware though and is defending well.

King has gone for a leg lock! Anderson slips out almost immediately though and dives into King's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. David Anderson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Anderson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Anderson throws a right hand that King ducks under and follows up with a left that King also avoids with ease.
King uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Anderson.
Anderson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by King.

David Anderson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


King fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Anderson avoids it really well and circles away.
Jay King is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Anderson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

King shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Anderson defends it nicely.

Anderson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but King circles away quickly and effectively.
King shoots in looking for a takedown. Anderson tries to sprawl out of it but King keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
No joy there for Anderson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Anderson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of King's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take King's back!

Anderson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but King has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Anderson doesn't have the hooks in and King manages to turn into his guard.

King postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Anderson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of King, into his guard.

Anderson wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Anderson. King does a little dance to reset his feet.
King closes the distance and clinches up with Anderson, looking for a takedown. King pushes Anderson against the cage but Anderson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

David Anderson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jay King opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
