PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yamapi Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Qing Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chan comes into the arena with Ikenai Tayou blaring out of the sound system. Kong has chosen ไรซิงซัน as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yamapi Chan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Qing Kong!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong misses with a low kick.
Left hook, right uppercut from Kong.
Chan with a nice cross.
Chan misses with a takedown attempt - Kong sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kong thows a body shot but no joy.
Kong feints and then cracks Chan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Chan down.
Chan throws a hook but Kong avoids it easily.
Kong scores with a punch to the head.
Chan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Chan dives in and grabs Kong's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kong pushes down on Chan's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yamapi Chan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kong scores with a leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chan shoots for a double leg takedown but Kong sprawls well. He's pushed Chan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Chan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kong is fending him off so far but Chan persists. Nope, Kong circles away and we're back to standing.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kong darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Kong throws a half hearted mid kick.

Chan closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kong's guard.
Kong has his hands on Chan's head, controlling the position.
Chan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kong swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kong pulls Chan in close to prevent any damage.

Kong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Qing Kong has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Chan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kong attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Horrible takedown by Chan or perhaps it was just good defense by Kong which made him look bad.
Kong dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Chan. That did some damage!
Qing Kong is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kong throws a left and a right that both miss
and Chan counters with a nice uppercut.
Kong throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Chan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kong swivels and escapes.

Chan wants to control from the top but Kong keeps moving.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kong works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Kong regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Qing Kong dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Chan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kong pinned against the cage. Kong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Chan shoots in looking for a takedown. Kong tries to sprawl out of it but Chan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kong manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yamapi Chan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Chan stands and throws Kong's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kong is looking to reverse the position.
Chan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Chan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Chan is looking to take a break and control but Kong is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Qing Kong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kong will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Chan avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Kong throws out a loose jab but Chan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Chan swings for the body but Kong moves out of range.

Kong throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A combination from Kong does no damage.

Chan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Chan stands up over Kong, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Chan takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kong misses with an attempted mid kick.
Chan moves out of range of the body kick.
Chan misses with a head kick.
Chan thumps Kong with a low kick.

Kong stuns Chan with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Chan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Kong tries to sprawl but Chan drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Kong wants to control but Chan is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Chan tries to pass to full mount but Kong defends it.
Chan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kong blocking the ground and pound attempt from Chan.
Yamapi Chan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kong wants to get back to full guard.

Chan stalling away here and it's allowed Kong to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
