The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho closes the distance looking to clinch
and Mouqinho counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Carvalho is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mouqinho postures up in Carvalho's guard and throws a big left but Carvalho blocks it.
Mouqinho throws a big elbow that misses.
Mouqinho is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mouqinho has gone for a leg lock! Carvalho slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mouqinho's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Carvalho is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mouqinho is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Carvalho wants to pass the guard but Mouqinho is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carvalho thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mouqinho controls Carvalho momentarily but Carvalho frees himself.
Mouqinho wants to hit a switch here but Carvalho passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mouqinho there!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mouqinho is desperately trying to improve his position but Carvalho has a good base and remains in mount.

Carvalho jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mouqinho manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Mouqinho manages to work his way to half guard, despite Carvalho's best efforts.
Mouqinho wants to control but Carvalho is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Mouqinho is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Carvalho is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mouqinho doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Carvalho.

Carvalho postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mouqinho is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Carvalho, into his guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Mouqinho leaves Carvalho with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
