Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Hyde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Javier Springfield!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Springfield has managed to clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Hyde throws an elbow but misses.

Hyde breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Springfield scores a takedown into full mount!
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Springfield has eaten all the pies!
Hyde tries to hold on but Springfield postures up.
Hyde is in all sorts of trouble here.
Springfield looking to control and managing it successfully.
Hyde is trying to reverse the position but instead Springfield has taken his back - oops!

Hyde rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Hyde's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Hyde will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hyde pulls Springfield in close to his closed guard and prevents Springfield from doing any damage or advancing position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hyde is on top in guard.
Hyde won't allow Springfield to get back to his feet.

Hyde stands and throws Springfield's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Springfield paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Springfield has a takedown stuffed.
Hyde circles away from the clinch attempt.
Springfield lands a glancing blow to the side of Hyde's head.

Springfield tries to keep at a distance but Hyde has taken the fight into the clinch.
Springfield wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Hyde drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Springfield gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Springfield fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hyde sprawls well initially but Springfield persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Hyde counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Springfield is trying to maintain the position but Hyde is very close to passing his half guard.
Springfield is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hyde's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hyde's back!

You can see the frustration on Hyde's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

I really don't envy Hyde right now.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hyde.

Hyde closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hyde lands in his opponent's guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hyde, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
