The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cruz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Brock napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Cruz working the ground and pound but Brock is defending the strikes.
Cruz grinds an elbow into Brock's temple.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Cruz creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Cruz in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Cruz is trying to ground and pound but Brock uses the momentary lack of control by Cruz to regain half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cruz is trying to control the action in half guard but Brock is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Brock is looking to escape.

Cruz wants to pass the guard but Brock is defending well.
Cruz throws a strike but Brock avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Brock wants to sweep but no luck.
Cruz is looking to work some ground and pound but Brock has wrist control.

Brock manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Brock defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cruz.
Nice sprawl there from Brock as Cruz shoots in.
Brock fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cruz is defended easily by Brock.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Cruz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brock throws a head kick that Cruz semi-blocks.

Cruz blocks a head kick by Brock.
Cruz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brock sprawls well. Brock wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet.
Brock misses with a few strikes there.
Cruz fails with the takedown
and Brock cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Donk. Brock catches Cruz right on the button with a cross.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cruz on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Brock. Brock obviously looking to wear him down.
Brock goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Brock bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Cruz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brock pinned against the cage. Brock gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Brock swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Brock fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cruz on the side of the head.
Cruz with a poor takedown
and Brock counters with a series of strikes. Cruz will be more careful next time no doubt.

Cruz has his takedown stuffed
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Cruz is breathing heavily.
Brock scores with a jab to the jaw.
Nice takedown defense from Brock. No joy for Cruz on that attempt.
Brock stuffs the takedown attempt from Cruz. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet.
A combination from Brock does no damage.
Brock misses with a jab, cross combination.
Brock fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Cruz fails with a takedown attempt.
Brock lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Cruz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brock sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cruz somewhat.

Brock lands a left and a right that send Cruz crashing to the mat, dazed. Brock thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Cruz is rocked!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Brock circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Cruz drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Brock follows Cruz to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
