PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Borocop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Suez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Borocop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rafael Suez!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Borocop counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Borocop lands a really nice looking cross but Suez seems unphased.
Borocop connects with a right hand. Suez shakes it off.
Suez fails with the takedown
and Borocop counters with a nice uppercut.
Borocop defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Suez.
Mark Borocop has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Suez.
Suez misses with a takedown attempt - Borocop sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Suez shoots in but no luck this time.
Borocop's jab looks to have found its range, popping Suez under the eye.
Suez doesn't manage to clinch there - Borocop circles away.
Suez takes one to the chin there.

Borocop swats away the attempt to clinch by Suez.
Suez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Suez shoots in and drives through. Borocop sprawls well.

Borocop clobbers Suez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Suez gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Borocop is trying is best to control the position here.

Borocop is looking for a sweep. Suez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Borocop is pressing down on Suez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Suez passes into half guard.
Borocop knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Suez on the ground.

Suez seems to be working for a kimura but Borocop defends the submission attempt.
Borocop wants to control but Suez is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Suez trying to advance position but Borocop counters by regaining guard.
Suez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Suez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Borocop works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Suez wants to control from the top but Borocop keeps moving.

Suez has gone for a leg lock! Borocop slips out almost immediately though and dives into Suez's guard.
Borocop seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Suez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Borocop gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mark Borocop will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Suez fails with the takedown.
Borocop thows a left - swing and a miss!
Suez takes one to the side of the head.

Suez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Borocop did well to prevent Suez getting side control.

Suez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Borocop defends it well.

Suez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Borocop is just riding it out for now. Suez eventually gives up the hold.
Borocop on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Borocop tries to get out of the position.

Suez tries to pass to full mount but Borocop defends it.

Suez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Borocop controlling the position for now.

Rafael Suez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Borocop lands a two punch combo.
Borocop displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Suez.
Suez fails with a takedown attempt.
Suez on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Borocop avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A big right from Borocop misses.
Suez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Borocop.
Suez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Borocop fails to land with a series of punches.
Suez has his takedown stuffed
and Borocop counters with a stiff right hand.
Mark Borocop has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Suez.

Suez shoots in and bounces Borocop off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Suez trying to control the position from guard on top but Borocop is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Suez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Borocop is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Suez, into his guard.

Borocop avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Borocop looking to sit in guard and control but Suez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Suez postures up in Borocop's guard and throws a big left but Borocop blocks it.

Suez has gone for a leg lock! Borocop slips out almost immediately though and dives into Suez's guard.

Suez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Suez keeping full guard, as Borocop tries to pass.
Borocop has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Suez keeping moving, preventing Borocop from controlling successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Suez has his foot on Borocop's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Borocop works his way back into a safe position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Rafael Suez.
I think Suez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
