Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Shields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tinker Evers!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evers shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Shields napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Shields sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Shields works his way to full guard. Good work.
Evers trying to move into half guard but instead Shields has managed to sweep!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Shields seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Evers wants to get back to his feet but Shields is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Shields with a nice head shot there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shields stops Evers from standing up.
Shields advances to half guard.

Shields is working for a submission of some sort.

Shields looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Evers can do anything to dispel that myth.

Shields is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Shields trying to mount his opponent but Evers defends it.

Shields is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Shields seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Evers for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jake Shields just wasn't active enough.

Shields gets caught flat footed, as Evers shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Shields working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Shields is tightening it up a little... Evers has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Evers reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Evers taps out! Nice BJJ there by Shields!
