PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fabricio Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lex Scrappy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fabricio Carvalho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lex Scrappy!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho tries for a takedown but Scrappy circles away easily

and Scrappy counters by clinching up.
Carvalho blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Scrappy throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Carvalho blocks it with crossed arms.
Scrappy throws an elbow but it misses.
Carvalho drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Scrappy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Scrappy tries to land knees in the clinch but Carvalho avoids the damage to the body.
Carvalho is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Scrappy is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabricio Carvalho. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Scrappy using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Carvalho has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Scrappy tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Carvalho blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Scrappy is pressed up against the cage. Carvalho has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Scrappy down to the mat. Scrappy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Scrappy tries to clinch there but Carvalho circles away.

Carvalho shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Carvalho was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Scrappy really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carvalho unloads with some shots from mount but Scrappy bucks and avoids them well.
Carvalho looking to control but Scrappy is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Carvalho is landing with some decent strikes but Scrappy is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Scrappy really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Carvalho content just to control the position here.
The referee warns Scrappy that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Scrappy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Carvalho controlling from mount.
Carvalho lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Carvalho sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Scrappy tries to hold on but Carvalho pushes him away.
Carvalho controlling the pace for now.

Scrappy tries to lock up and control but Carvalho gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Carvalho trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Carvalho is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Scrappy to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Scrappy shrugs it off.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carvalho postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Scrappy looks a forlorn figure.
Scrappy tries to lock up and control but Carvalho gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carvalho connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Carvalho lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Scrappy takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


Scrappy is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Scrappy tries to hold on but Carvalho postures up.
Scrappy is still in real trouble! Can Carvalho finish him?
The referee warns Scrappy that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Scrappy can do anything to dispel that myth.
Carvalho postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Scrappy badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Carvalho around the waist but Carvalho pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Carvalho is the winner by TKO! Carvalho jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fabricio Carvalho!
