Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between La Davina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Dupitsinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davina uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dupitsinov.
Davina on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Dupitsinov throws a body punch but Davina moves out of range.
Davina tries to clinch but Dupitsinov is having none of it.

Davina fails with the takedown.
Davina shoots in for a takedown but Dupitsinov shows good takedown defense.
Dupitsinov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Davina throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dupitsinov's waist but Dupitsinov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Davina off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for La Davina. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dupitsinov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Davina drives through with a takedown into Dupitsinov's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

La Davina has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Davina shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dupitsinov pinned against the cage. Dupitsinov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Davina closes the distance and pushes Dupitsinov back into the cage.
Davina jumps guard but Dupitsinov stands there with Davina around his waist. Davina gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Dupitsinov tries to break the clinch but Davina is controlling the position.

Dupitsinov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jab, jab by Dupitsinov - just one landing.

Dupitsinov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Davina to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Dupitsinov has his hands on Davina's head, controlling the position.
Dupitsinov controls Davina momentarily but Davina frees himself.
Davina throws an elbow that misses. Dupitsinov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Davina's guard. Nice move by Dupitsinov!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close round but Sergei Dupitsinov will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Davina closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dupitsinov circles away.
Davina changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dupitsinov tries to avoid it but Davina manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dupitsinov to the ground. Dupitsinov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
La Davina is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Dupitsinov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davina will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Dupitsinov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Davina is proving hard to escape from.

Davina working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dupitsinov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dupitsinov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Davina has his foot on Dupitsinov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dupitsinov works his way back into a safe position though.
Davina lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dupitsinov!

Davina is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Dupitsinov has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Davina wants to finish this one by submission but Dupitsinov is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Davina.

Davina has control of Dupitsinov's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dupitsinov regains control of the situation pretty easily.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Davina here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dupitsinov is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Davina fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
