PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ace Darko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Japa Kaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darko comes to the cage accompanied by The Black Keys - Breaks. Japa Kaka will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Ace Darko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Japa Kaka!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darko fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kaka enables Darko to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kaka manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Darko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Darko postures up in Kaka's guard and throws a big left but Kaka blocks it.

Kaka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Darko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Darko would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Darko moves out of range as Kaka strikes.
Horrible takedown by Darko or perhaps it was just good defense by Kaka which made him look bad.
Darko's corner calls for a 1-2. Darko obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Darko looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kaka is fending him off so far but Darko persists. Nope, Kaka circles away and we're back to standing.
Darko changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kaka tries to avoid it but Darko manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kaka to the ground. Kaka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ace Darko. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Darko shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kaka but Kaka pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kaka scores with the left hand. Darko knows he should have avoided that one.
Kaka dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Kaka is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Kaka avoids a series of strikes thrown by Darko.
Darko postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kaka looks a forlorn figure.

Darko wants to finish this one by submission but Kaka is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Darko.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Darko here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Darko sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Darko unloads with some shots from mount but Kaka bucks and avoids them well.
Ace Darko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kaka can do anything to dispel that myth.

Darko lands with some strikes.
Darko connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Darko tries to control but Kaka wriggling away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The referee warns Kaka that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darko looks to land a body kick but Kaka moved away.

Darko shoots for a double leg takedown but Kaka sprawls well. He's pushed Darko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kaka connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Darko momentarily.

Kaka pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Darko back to the cage. Kaka follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Kaka wants to stand but Darko is controlling his arm.
Darko sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Darko is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kaka's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kaka's back!

Darko is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The referee is taking a good look at Kaka as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Darko!
Ace Darko is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Darko controlling the position well here. Kaka rolled but Darko kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Darko gets his hands free as Kaka looks to control.

Japa Kaka has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ace Darko showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Darko, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
