PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lex Scrappy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muay Boran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lex Scrappy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Muay Boran!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boran looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Scrappy pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Boran has his takedown stuffed

and Scrappy counters with a takedown into side control.
Scrappy staying calm.
Scrappy lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Boran down.
Scrappy is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Boran will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Scrappy seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boran for as long as he can get away with.

Boran wants to control but Scrappy postures up.
Scrappy works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
You can see the frustration on Boran's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Boran fails to land the takedown.
Lex Scrappy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Muay Boran.

Boran gets caught napping as Scrappy dives in and scores a takedown. Boran manages to retain guard.
Scrappy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Scrappy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Scrappy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Boran tries to clinch but Scrappy moves away

and Scrappy counters with a single leg into guard. Boran didn't expect that.

Boran does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Boran.

and Scrappy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Boran can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Scrappy controls the pace.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Horrible takedown by Boran or perhaps it was just good defense by Scrappy which made him look bad.

Boran is trying to escape the position but Scrappy is controlling the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Scrappy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boran tries to avoid it but Scrappy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boran to the ground. Boran escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Scrappy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Boran!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lex Scrappy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Boran tries to hold on but Scrappy pushes him away.

Scrappy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boran can do to turn this around?
Boran is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Scrappy is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Boran can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Boran shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Scrappy sprawls well. Scrappy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Boran gets slowly back to his feet.

Scrappy is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Boran's half guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Scrappy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
