Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eiji Kawashima!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Thomas Flight!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flight slips a jab and a cross from Kawashima.
Jab, jab by Kawashima - just one landing.


It looks like Thomas Flight has been cut.
Kawashima connects with a leg kick. Flight looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Kawashima throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Flight on the side of the head.
Kawashima gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.


It looks like Eiji Kawashima has been cut.
Kawashima tries to clinch but Flight is having none of it.
Flight cracks Kawashima with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A good leg kick by Flight.
Kawashima bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kawashima throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Kawashima throws a lazy uppercut
and Flight counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Kawashima walks into a straight right hand from Flight.
Kawashima throws a jab but it's blocked by Flight.
Flight misses with a body kick.

Flight lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
An inside leg kick from Kawashima misses.
Kawashima throws a body punch but Flight moves out of range.
Flight has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kawashima.
Flight swings widly with a right hand
and Kawashima counters with a good, hard body kick but Flight shrugs it off.
The fighters circling - Kawashima throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Flight misses with a body shot.
Kawashima defending well as Flight loads up on a big left hand.
Kawashima lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Flight moves out of range of the strikes.
Kawashima connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kawashima connects with a crisp jab.

A nice leg kick lands there from Kawashima.
Good exchange - Flight coming out on top.
Kawashima fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Flight looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Flight has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kawashima buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kawashima lands the left hand.
Flight throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Eiji Kawashima seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Flight cracks Kawashima with an open hand slap.
Kawashima misses with a combination
and Flight counters with a body kick that stops Kawashima in his tracks momentarily.
Kawashima misses with an uppercut. Flight saw that one coming.
Flight steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kawashima.
Kawashima lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A shot to the liver by Kawashima. Beautiful body shot.
Kawashima scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Kawashima pushes Flight up against the cage in a clinch.
Flight looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A short left from Kawashima.
Kawashima works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Kawashima lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Kawashima displaying some good clinch control by pressing Flight up against the cage.
Kawashima scores with a shot to the side of Flight's head.
Kawashima lands a shoulder strike.
Stalling in the clinch from Kawashima.
Flight misses with a hook from the clinch.
Kawashima pushes Flight back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Flight is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Flight is trying to break the clinch but Kawashima has him pressed against the cage.
Flight wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kawashima lands a shoulder strike.
Kawashima misses with a short punch on the inside.
Flight wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Flight tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Flight has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kawashima lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Flight tries to break free but Kawashima pushes him back against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Kawashima - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Kawashima lands a left hand.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nice body punch from Kawashima.

Flight breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Flight throws a hook to the side of Kawashima's head but Kawashima sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eiji Kawashima dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kawashima scores with a kick to the body.
Flight throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kawashima lands a glancing blow to the side of Flight's head.
Kawashima thumps Flight with a low kick.
Kawashima connects with a solid leg kick.
Kawashima ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kawashima lands with a thumping leg kick.
Kawashima cracks Flight with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Kawashima comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Flight is breathing heavily.
Kawashima connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


Flight is rocked!
Kawashima ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Flight's jaw. Flight's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Kawashima does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Eiji Kawashima!
Eiji Kawashima retains his welterweight title!
A relieved looking Eiji Kawashima thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
