PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cj Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bj Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn has chosen BJ Penn as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Penn keeps the fight on the outside.
Penn tries to move into range but Hammer moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hammer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Penn pinned against the cage. Penn gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hammer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Penn swats away the attempt to clinch by Hammer.
Penn scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Hammer lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Penn at a distance.
Hammer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Penn throws a leg kick but Hammer sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Hammer is looking to clinch but Penn is avoiding it.
Hammer takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Penn takes a swing at Hammer's ribcage but misses.
Penn swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hammer.

Hammer drops back, looking for a kneebar! Penn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Penn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Penn!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Penn scores with a couple of nice shots.

Penn is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Penn is nestled in close to Hammer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hammer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Penn pulls his head out easily.
Hammer is staying active underneath Penn, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Penn seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Penn moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Hammer.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hammer tries to buck Penn off but Penn is having none of it.

Penn scores with a couple of short elbows.
Hammer is working to avoid the ground and pound but Penn connects with a decent elbow.
Hammer is not content to let Penn control the position.
Penn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Penn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bj Penn dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Hammer takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Penn keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hammer on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Penn cracks Hammer with a right hand to the side of the head.

Hammer is rocked!
Penn lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Oh Hammer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hammer drops his hands momentarily. Penn doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Hammer staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Hammer doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bj Penn!
Bj Penn tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
