PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tyrone Bate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chibi Tsushima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Tyrone Bate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chibi Tsushima!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bate throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Tsushima.
Bate connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Bate throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Tsushima lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bate has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bate and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Bate lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Tsushima enables Bate to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Tsushima manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Tsushima controls Bate momentarily but Bate frees himself.

Tsushima escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bate gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bate with a flurry of punches that miss.
Tsushima looking for a sweep. Not yet Tsushima, not yet.

Tsushima is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bate defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bate slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Tsushima working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bate doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bate manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bate pushing down on Tsushima's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Tsushima is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bate perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Bate throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Bate has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tsushima trying to control from the bottom.
Bate working over Tsushima with some ground and pound. Tsushima looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Bate drops an elbow to the side of Tsushima's head.
Tsushima is pressing down on Bate's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Bate wants to control from the top but Tsushima keeps moving.
Bate passes into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tsushima is refusing to be controlled, as Bate sits in half guard.

Bate is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bate winds up and cracks Tsushima with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bate is looking to take a break and control but Tsushima is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bate thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tsushima's head.
Tsushima is trying to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bate in particular looking to stall.

Bate tries to pass to full mount but Tsushima defends it.
Bate lands with a punch from half guard.
Bate controlling the pace.
Tsushima wants to control but Bate is keeping busy.
Tsushima is looking for a sweep. Bate is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Tsushima trying to control but Bate postures up.
Bate not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Bate works his foot free and advances to mount.
Bate landing shots from mount.
Bate is landing with some decent strikes but Tsushima is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Tsushima is bucking up trying to escape but Bate cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Bate putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Tsushima is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
BOOM! Bate connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Bate can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tsushima is looking to escape.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tsushima is in all sorts of trouble here.
Bate has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Tsushima's face.
Bate sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Tsushima is looking to get to half guard.
Bate landing punches.
Bate breaks from Tsushima's wrist control and lands an elbow.


Tsushima is rocked!
Tsushima is desperately trying to improve his position but Bate has a good base and remains in mount.
Tsushima is still in real trouble! Can Bate finish him?
Bate tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Tsushima is desperately trying to improve his position but Bate has a good base and remains in mount.
Bate looking to control but Tsushima is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Tsushima seems to have recovered his senses.
Bate unloading with bombs!
Tsushima is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Tsushima is in a horrible position here. Bate smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Bate postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Tsushima in real trouble here! The ref calls for Tsushima to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyrone Bate!
Tyrone Bate decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
