PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Worrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoodie Ratty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eric Worrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Hoodie Ratty!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Worrell shoots in and gets a takedown into Ratty's guard.
Worrell pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ratty is keeping the position for now.
Worrell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ratty is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Worrell won't allow Ratty to get back to his feet.
Worrell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hoodie Ratty was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Good exchange - Ratty coming out on top.

Worrell closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Worrell tries to advance to mount but can't.
Worrell wants to control but Ratty is keeping him busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Worrell works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Ratty regains half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ratty is trying to control but can't.
Worrell is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Ratty reverses the position - he's now on top in Worrell's guard.
Worrell looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ratty puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Worrell is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ratty jumps into side control!
Worrell is looking to reverse the position.
Worrell struggling a bit here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ratty tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ratty has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Worrell is looking to regain half guard here but Ratty keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ratty tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Ratty trying to control the action but Worrell is working from the bottom.
Worrell manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The fighters are battling for position here. Ratty manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Worrell lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Worrell trying to control the position from guard on top but Ratty is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Worrell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ratty is trying to keep Worrell in close.
Worrell works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Worrell trying to mount his opponent but Ratty defends it.
Ratty flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Ratty wants to get back to full guard.
Worrell missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Ratty moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Worrell wants to pass the guard but Ratty is keeping the position.
Worrell is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Worrell dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ratty wants to sweep but no luck.
Worrell with a flurry of punches that miss.

Ratty is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Worrell rolls with it to try and escape but Ratty cranks on the arm and Worrell is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hoodie Ratty!
Hoodie Ratty seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
