The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joaquin moves out of range of the leg kick from Alvarez.

Joaquin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alvarez napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Alvarez has his foot on Joaquin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Joaquin works his way back into a safe position though.

Joaquin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Alvarez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Joaquin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Alvarez was covering up waiting for the punch and Joaquin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
