PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Atticus Jax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jax pinned against the cage. Jax gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jax wants to clinch up but Silva keeps it at a distance.

Jax scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Silva drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jax pulls his leg out and moves away.

Silva throws a series of punches but Jax avoids them all with ease.

Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Jax crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Silva - the referee stops the clock and Jax gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Silva. Jax manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Jax has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Silva uses from the top position.

Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jax swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jax manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Silva manages to get himself to full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Atticus Jax will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Silva is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jax.

Jax closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Silva to the mat! Silva manages to get full guard.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jax is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Silva Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jax's back instead.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Silva controlling the positon.

Silva has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jax has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Jax is looking for a way out.
Jax manages to reverse the position and now he's in Silva's guard. Nice work there by Jax.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well Jax has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
