Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sylvester Snell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pablo Perez Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez Alvarez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Snell counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Snell decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Perez Alvarez tries to keep at a distance but Snell has taken the fight into the clinch.

Snell gets through Perez Alvarez's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Perez Alvarez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Snell just stands there and leans against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Snell fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Perez Alvarez to the ground. Snell is now in Perez Alvarez's guard.
Snell keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Perez Alvarez's head.
Snell lands a couple of digs.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Snell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Perez Alvarez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Snell makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Snell postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Perez Alvarez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Snell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Snell keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Perez Alvarez's head.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Snell lands a couple of elbows.
Snell prevents Perez Alvarez from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Perez Alvarez has his foot on Snell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Snell works his way back into a safe position though.
Snell postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sylvester Snell dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Perez Alvarez closes the distance and clinches.
Snell connects with a knee to the head.

Snell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Perez Alvarez fails with the takedown

and Snell counters with a takedown into side control.
Snell lands a few punches from side control.
You can see the frustration on Perez Alvarez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Snell works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Check out the look on Snell's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Snell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Snell is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Perez Alvarez is trying to escape and Snell transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Perez Alvarez is forced to tap! Nice work there by Snell! Very nice indeed!
