PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Yaramoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiny Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tiny Dong has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kenji Yaramoto's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Yaramoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tiny Dong!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yaramoto forces Dong back against the cage and clinches.
Dong stalling the fight.

Dong breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yaramoto doesn't manage to clinch there - Dong circles away.

Dong closes the distance and clinches.
Dong tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Yaramoto just stands there and leans against the cage.
Yaramoto throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Dong blocks it with crossed arms.

Dong gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Dong stands up and waves to Yaramoto to follow him.
Dong changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yaramoto tries to avoid it but Dong manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yaramoto to the ground. Yaramoto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dong has taken the fight to the clinch.
Yaramoto wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Dong takes an elbow to the forehead.
Dong wants a takedown but no success here.
Kenji Yaramoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tiny Dong.

Dong pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Dong drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Yaramoto gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Dong wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Dong gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Dong lands a body punch in the clinch.
Dong wants to get back to striking at distance but Yaramoto won't allow it.
Dong tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Yaramoto just stands there and leans against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dong is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Yaramoto pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Dong wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Dong has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Yaramoto uses from the top position.
Dong is trying to keep Yaramoto in close.
Yaramoto wants to get up but he can't break Dong's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tiny Dong wasn't active enough on the ground.
Yaramoto moves in looking to clinch but Dong pushes him off.
Yaramoto fails with a takedown attempt.

and Dong moves into the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Yaramoto's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tiny Dong dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Yaramoto is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Yaramoto. No joy for Dong on that attempt.
A chopping leg kick lands by Dong.
Yaramoto tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Dong manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Dong gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Dong turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dong is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Yaramoto knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dong wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yaramoto, who protects the arm well.

Yaramoto is trying to get back to his feet.

Dong stands up.
Dong misses with a jab, cross combination.

Dong circles away from the clinch attempt

and Dong counters by moving into the clinch.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Yaramoto creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Dong has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Yaramoto regains guard immediately.

Dong is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Yaramoto wants to get back to his feet but Dong is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Dong pushing down on Yaramoto's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Dong is pressing down on Yaramoto's thigh, looking to free his foot. Yaramoto is holding on for now.
Yaramoto keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Dong is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Yaramoto is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
