Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Makoto Shibasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shibasaki has chosen Genki Sudo - 'Mind Shift' as his entrance music. Ryan King could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Makoto Shibasaki's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Makoto Shibasaki!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Shibasaki counters with a good low kick that King was not able to check.
Nice body punch from Shibasaki.
King moves out of range as Shibasaki strikes.
A combination from King does no damage.
The crowd cheers as Shibasaki lands an impressive looking overhand right. King doesn't seem phased though.
King lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
King misses with a combination
and Shibasaki counters with a lovely shot to the body.
King stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Shibasaki.
Shibasaki will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Shibasaki throws a hook to the side of King's head but King sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Shibasaki has taken the fight to the clinch.

Shibasaki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ryan King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
King throws a nice looking combination but Shibasaki bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Shibasaki shoots in and drives through. King sprawls well.
Shibasaki throws a shot from downtown. King moves away and avoids it.
Shibasaki moves away from the strike by King.

Shibasaki gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Shibasaki lands a shot to the body.
King misses with an elbow over the top.
King's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Shibasaki prevents a takedown attempt there.

Shibasaki is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Shibasaki lands a takedown into guard.
King will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

King is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shibasaki is aware though and is defending well.

Shibasaki trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Shibasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.

King is looking to control Shibasaki's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can King avoid being mounted?
King trying to get back to full guard but Shibasaki takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
King really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shibasaki fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Shibasaki uses his free foot to push down on King's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for King.
Shibasaki controlling the position easily from mount.

Shibasaki moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, King has worked his arm free - good work by King!
King is looking to reverse the position.

King is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Shibasaki's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Shibasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shibasaki wants to free his trapped foot but King is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Shibasaki trying to control the action but King is working from the bottom.
Shibasaki landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shibasaki in particular looking to stall.
It looks like Shibasaki might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


King on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Shibasaki forces King back against the cage and clinches.
Come on Shibasaki - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Shibasaki lands a shoulder strike.
King misses with an elbow over the top.
King trying to land knees to the body.
King gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Shibasaki.
Shibasaki lands a body punch in the clinch.

King is defending well against a takedown attempt.
King misses with a hook to the ribs.
King tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Shibasaki is trying to stall.
King is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
King doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Shibasaki has clasped his hands together around King's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Shibasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.

Shibasaki working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Shibasaki cracks King with an elbow. That is naaassty.
King is looking to regain half guard here but Shibasaki keeps moving and retains side control.
Shibasaki scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at King to see if he's OK.
The referee asks Shibasaki politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Shibasaki prefers to stall for the moment though.

Shibasaki seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
King is not content to let Shibasaki control the position.
King wants to improve his position but Shibasaki is controlling well.

Shibasaki seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. King is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
