PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nigel Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis Moranis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Nigel Coleman has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Nigel Coleman seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nigel Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lewis Moranis!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moranis leaves Coleman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Moranis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Coleman tries to avoid it but Moranis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Coleman to the ground. Coleman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Coleman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Coleman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Moranis parries the strikes from Coleman easily there. Coleman is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Moranis to escape.
You can see the frustration on Moranis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Moranis is on top in guard.

Moranis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Coleman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Moranis, into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Coleman manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Moranis on his heels. He'll look to pass Moranis's guard now, I'm sure.

Moranis drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Coleman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Moranis has Coleman in his guard.

Moranis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Moranis wants it to stay on the feet.
