Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matts Hummel!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hummel misses with a jab, cross combination.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
Hummel throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.
Jones ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Jones rushes Hummel and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hummel prevents the takedown attempt.
Jones scores with a knee to the head.
It looks like Matts Hummel has been cut.
Hummel is trying to break the clinch but Jones is controlling him.
Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A punch combination from Hummel misses.
Jones connects with a high kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hummel did well to prevent Jones getting side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hummel looks like he's trying to stand up.
Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones escapes and gets back to his feet.
Jones misses with a double jab.
Jones swinging wildly here.
Jones throws a series of punches but Hummel avoids them all with ease.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hummel throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hummel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Hummel.
Hummel throws a combination that misses
and Jones counters with a crisp one two that drops Hummel! Jones thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Hummel to his feet! Hummel is in big trouble!
Hummel is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Hummel collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!
