Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roberto Colon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hector Lombard!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lombard shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Colon is trying to defend but Lombard finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Lombard scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lombard throws a strike but Colon avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Lombard pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Colon is keeping the position for now.
Lombard working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Lombard stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Colon throws a big shot that misses.
Colon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Lombard eats them both and turns towards Colon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Lombard forces Colon back against the cage and clinches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lombard has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Colon is trying to keep an underhook but Lombard manages to get the takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Colon looking for submissions off his back.
Lombard throwing shots but Colon is blocking nicely.
Colon is not content to let Lombard control the position.

Colon actively working from the bottom here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lombard connects with a nice short shot to Colon's temple.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Lombard trying to control the action but Colon is working from the bottom.
Lombard throwing shots but Colon is blocking nicely.
Colon on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Lombard keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Lombard is stalling here. Colon is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Lombard seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Colon has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Colon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Colon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Colon is trying to get an arm triangle but Lombard is defending well.

Colon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lombard is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Lombard is trying to get back to his feet.

Colon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Colon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lombard gets back to half guard.

Colon is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lombard has managed to free his arm - good work.

Colon is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lombard sees it coming and defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Colon is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Lombard is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Roberto Colon!
