Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fieldy Snutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chael Sonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fieldy Snutz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chael Sonnen!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Sonnen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Snutz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Snutz is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Sonnen seems content to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Chael Sonnen was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Snutz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sonnen.
Snutz shoots in for a takedown but Sonnen shows good takedown defense.
Snutz moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sonnen looks for a takedown but Snutz sprawls well.
Fieldy Snutz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chael Sonnen.
Snutz tries a head kick but it misses.

Sonnen shoots in looking for a takedown but Snutz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sonnen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Sonnen looks up at the clock and then as Snutz takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sonnen smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Snutz is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Snutz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Snutz.
Sonnen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Let's hope that Sonnen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Sonnen won't allow Snutz to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Sonnen stands and steps away. Snutz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sonnen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Snutz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sonnen to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Snutz looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Snutz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sonnen is working away from the top position though.

Sonnen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Chael Sonnen has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Sonnen shoots in for a takedown but Snutz shows good takedown defense.
Snutz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sonnen.

Sonnen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sonnen lands in his opponent's guard.
Sonnen stays in close to Snutz's body and controls the position.

Snutz tries to close the distance and clinch but Sonnen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Snutz unloads a knee to the mid-section. Sonnen lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Snutz tries to stall but Sonnen uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Sonnen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Snutz breaks from the clinch.
Sonnen keeps the fight on the outside.

Sonnen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Chael Sonnen has got the better of the ground game so far.

Sonnen prevents Snutz from improving his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sonnen in particular looking to stall.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Sonnen lands with a punch from half guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Chael Sonnen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Snutz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sonnen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Snutz wants to control the position but Sonnen says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Snutz has hold of Sonnen's hands but Sonnen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sonnen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Snutz wants to hold on but Sonnen pushes him away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

BOOM! Sonnen connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Chael Sonnen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Sonnen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sonnen shoots in looking for a takedown. Snutz tries to sprawl out of it but Sonnen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Snutz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Sonnen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sonnen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Sonnen lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Snutz really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Sonnen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Snutz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Sonnen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Chael Sonnen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Sonnen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Snutz paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sonnen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Well, if Sonnen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
