Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walet Franks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Stewart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Walet Franks!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Franks. No joy for Stewart on that attempt.
Franks throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Stewart shoots in looking for a takedown but Franks manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stewart's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Stewart shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Franks pinned against the cage. Franks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Stewart. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stewart tries to close the distance and clinch up but Franks swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Franks looks to land a combination. Stewart sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Franks fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Stewart shoots in for a takedown but Franks shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Franks throws a right hand that Stewart ducks under and follows up with a left that Stewart also avoids with ease.
Franks leaves Stewart with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Franks fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Stewart tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Franks counters with a stiff right hand.
Stewart doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Franks counters with a one-two to the body.
Franks throws a series of punches but Stewart moves out of range.
Stewart tries to clinch up but Franks circles away and keeps his distance.

Stewart closes the distance and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stewart is trying to push Franks away but Franks has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Stewart fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Stewart is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Franks to keep the fight standing.
Franks wants to break the clinch but can't.

Franks breaks from the clinch.
Franks stuffs the takedown.
Stewart has a takedown stuffed.
Paul Stewart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Franks cracks Stewart with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Stewart has managed to clinch.
Stewart fails to pull guard.
Stewart keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Franks's efforts to push away.
Franks is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Stewart tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Franks wants to get back to striking at distance but Stewart won't allow it.
Stewart tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Franks just stands there and leans against the cage.
Stewart keeps control of Franks as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Stewart goes for a takedown in the clinch but Franks prevents it.
Stewart doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Franks can't break the clinch.
Stewart has Franks pressed against the cage.
Stewart gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Stewart turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Stewart manages to end up in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Walet Franks will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Franks misses with a two punch combination.
Stewart is looking to clinch but Franks is avoiding it.
Franks swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Stewart moves into the clinch successfully.

Stewart manages to pull guard.
Franks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stewart is on top in guard.
Stewart is standing up over Franks. Franks looks to escape but Stewart dives into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stewart tries to advance to mount but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stewart working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Franks managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Stewart.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Franks is looking to get back to his feet here but Stewart is keeping cool and he's managed to take Franks's back.
Franks is trying to stand back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stewart misses with a punch to the head.
I would not like to be Franks right now.

Even with his hooks in, Stewart manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Stewart working for the choke.
Franks covering up well and avoiding damage.
Franks prevents Stewart from getting a body triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Franks looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Franks is keeping busy.
Stewart missing with strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Stewart looking to break Franks's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Franks remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Stewart will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Franks is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Stewart off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Franks looking very determined here, making life difficult for Stewart.
Stewart is really struggling to control Franks but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Stewart dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Stewart misses with a takedown attempt - Franks sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Franks's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Franks duly obliges.
Stewart has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Franks throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Stewart fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Franks, pushing him back against the cage.
Stewart tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Franks smiles and moves away.
Stewart shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Stewart. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Some wild striking there from Franks.
Stewart tries to close the distance and clinch up but Franks swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Franks throws a combination that misses

and Stewart counters by clinching up.
Stewart drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Franks wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stewart tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Franks just stands there and leans against the cage.
Stewart tries to pull guard but Franks holds him up against the cage and eventually Stewart drops back down to his feet.
Stewart throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Franks blocks it with crossed arms.
Franks wants to get back to striking at distance but Stewart won't allow it.
Stewart is stalling here.
Franks looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stewart is trying to drag Franks to the mat but Franks just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Stewart manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Stewart thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Franks wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Stewart's closed guard. He's half up but Stewart has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Stewart pivots and extends the arm, Franks falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Stewart! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Paul Stewart!
