Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Phillips moves into the clinch successfully.
Drens tries for a takedown but Phillips manages to get underhooks.
Drens can't get the takedown.
Drens goes for a takedown attempt but Phillips pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mathew Drens. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Phillips scoring well with a low kick there.
Phillips is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Phillips looking to score a takedown here. Drens is defending well but Phillips drives through and ends up in Drens's guard.

Phillips fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Drens looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Phillips drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Phillips is trying to get an arm triangle but Drens is defending well.
Phillips stands up and beckons Drens to his feet.

Drens gets caught napping as Phillips dives in and scores a takedown. Drens manages to retain guard.
Phillips gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Drens fails with the takedown.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Phillips shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Drens is looking for a sweep. Phillips is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Drens is breathing heavily.
Drens is staying active underneath Phillips, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Phillips stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Drens to get to his feet.
Drens has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Drens shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Phillips counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Drens down! Phillips is looking to finish but Drens is intelligently defending himself.
Drens is rocked!
Phillips trying to control but Drens is working from the bottom.
Oh Drens is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Phillips drops back looking for a leg! Drens is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Drens manages to kick Phillips off! Phillips jumps back into Drens's guard.
Phillips passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Drens seems to have got his legs back now.

Phillips has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Phillips fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Drens to the ground. Phillips is now in Drens's guard.
Phillips trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Phillips stands and steps away. Drens gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Phillips misses with a two punch combination.
Drens avoids the head kick by Phillips.
Drens with a lazy takedown attempt
and Phillips counters with a straight right hand.
Drens is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Phillips.
Phillips scores with a head kick.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Phillips throws a one two combo.
Phillips feints with a jab and clips Drens right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Drens is sent crashing into the canvas and Phillips leaps in for the kill! Drens tries to get to his feet but Phillips is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Drens is in need of a savior and steps in!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Philip Phillips!
A very excited looking Philip Phillips rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
