Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sticky Buds!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James shoots in for a double leg but Buds sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Buds looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
James shoots for a takedown but Buds saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Buds just misses with a punch to the body.
Buds throws a shot from downtown. James moves away and avoids it.
Buds throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Alex James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buds tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buds to the ground. Buds escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Horrible takedown by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Buds which made him look bad.
A telegraphed right hand from Buds misses the target.

James shoots and misses
and Buds counters with a lovely straight right hand!
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Buds sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

James changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Buds looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
James scores with a couple of short elbows.
Buds really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Buds can do anything to dispel that myth.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

James cracks Buds with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! James immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Buds is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by James!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex James!
