The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cane shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Cane is looking for a kimura but Matsui is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cane to get the leverage.
Matsui wants to control but Cane is keeping busy.

Cane wants to work for an arm triangle but Matsui is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Matsui manages to get to full guard.

Cane postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Matsui is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cane, into his guard.
Matsui scoring with some ground and pound.

Matsui working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Cane working for a triangle but Matsui defends it easily.

Matsui stands and steps away. Cane gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Cane is trying hard to land a takedown here. Matsui sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Matsui lands a nice looking body shot.
Cane tries for a takedown but Matsui sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cane takes one on the button.
Cane scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Cane wants to clinch up but Matsui keeps it at a distance.
Cane tries to close the distance and clinch up but Matsui swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cane shoots for a double leg takedown but Matsui sprawls well. He's pushed Cane's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quentin Cane. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cane tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Matsui swivels and escapes.
Quentin Cane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cane throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matsui's waist but Matsui gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cane off to one side.
Cane is breathing heavily.
Matsui scores with the left hand. Cane knows he should have avoided that one.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cane tries to clinch but Matsui is having none of it.
The crowd cheers as Matsui lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cane doesn't seem phased though.

Cane is rocked!
Matsui lands an uppercut, right on the button! Cane tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
